Our weekend!

Friday after Kyle got off work we went to his aunt's house to celebrate Tyler and Tiffany's birthday.  We had pizza, watched the Ranger game, and played a few games.  We also had punch that was leftover (frozen) from Nana's 100th birthday celebration.  Susan and I love punch so we were thrilled!  We got home late and Cooper was out of his routine so he didn't fall asleep until almost midnight.  He did sleep for 6 hours once he went to sleep.

Saturday my parents came to babysit Cooper while we went shopping for a new car for me.

We were going into our car buying experience prepared in hopes to make it a painless and quick and possible.  We learned after buying Kyle's truck that you should get an interest rate from your bank ahead of time because a lot of times they can get you a better interest rate than the dealership.  Sure enough we contacted our bank and got pre-approved for a great rate!

We got to the dealership and test drove a silver 2011 Equinox.  I really liked it however silver wasn't one of the colors we wanted, but they did have the color we wanted in a 2012.  We then went inside and started the negotiation process which is never fun.  After lots of offers and counteroffers we made our final offer and said otherwise we were going to walk away.  After meeting with a second sales manager they said they couldn't do it and we walked away.

On the way to the next dealership we got a phone call from the dealership and we got excited thinking they had changed their mind.  ACTUALLY we drove away without our pre-approval letter from the bank and we needed that for the rest of the day.  We turned around and headed back and just couldn't help but laugh.  We aren't sure if they did it on purpose or if it was our guardian angel telling us to go back.  Sure enough when we walked in they gave us another counteroffer and we ACCEPTED!

After 5 hours, 1 sales person, 2 managers, and countless offers we drove away in a 2012 Chevy Equinox.  It is mocha steel colored which is a shimmery brown color.  I am so excited to have my first new car!!

While we were closing the deal Cooper was in good hands.  My mom is great at sending me updates and thanks to her iPhone she sends lots of fun pictures.
Cooper sleeping on his Grandaddy
Sleeping in his bassinet which is proof that they did put him down (at least for a minute)
Cooper watching a western with Grandaddy
My parents also watched MacKenzie and Riley decided she liked her blanket.  Cute pic but not a great idea since Mac has allergies to dogs.
Grandaddy holding both babies.

There aren't any pictures of Babi because she is always taking the pictures.  I know my mom enjoyed getting to feed Cooper a bottle.  Not sure if Grandaddy got to give him one.

Today has been a day of getting stuff done around the house.  We went to the grocery store and took Ranger to the groomer.  We also enjoyed watching The King's Speech from our Netflix that I have had for like 2 weeks!  Kyle and I both liked it.

And today Mimi and Grandpa moved Uncle T back to A&M for his sophomore year.  We sent him this little message today!

I hope you all had a great weekend!  We have a fun weekend planned for next weekend!

6 Weeks Old!

Here is Cooper on the day he came home from the hospital compared to today at 6 weeks old!

We played on the floor today.  We did tummy time and then he hung out on his back.

By the end of playtime he was surrounded by two dogs and 4 toys!  They love bringing toys to him!

Tonight after dinner Cooper and I went for a walk.  I am going to start training for a 5K so I wanted to see what he thought of the walk around the block. He loved it but unfortunately it doesn't get cool enough here until 8 or so and that is his bath time and then bottle time.  Not sure how this will work out.

By the end of the 20 minutes he could hardly keep his eyes open.
Now it is 9:45 and we are having a hard time getting him to settle down for the night.

Then and Now

This is Cooper at 4 days old
And this is Cooper yesterday (5 weeks and 3 days old) on our Chipotle date.
Isn't it crazy?  Our poor little bruised baby turned out so gorgeous.  He was long and skinny and now he has a chubby round face.

I love this little guy so much and feel so blessed to have him.  He makes me so happy.  His entry into this world was so scary and I try to thank God everyday for getting us both safely through it.  I can't imagine my life without my sweet little boy!!

1 Month Dr Appt

Tuesday was Cooper's 1 month doctor appointment.  He was actually 5 weeks and 1 day.

Cooper's Stats-

Height: 21 1/2 inches (38%)
Weight: 9 lbs 11 oz (40%)
Head: 39.2 cm (66%)

He is lower than 50% but he started out small and is catching up quickly.  I can't believe he almost weighs 10lbs!!  My little boy is packing on the weight!

I was a little disappointed in the appointment because the doctor was pretty harsh on me (and my mom) regarding Cooper's sleep habits.  She said it is time for him to sleep in his crib, put him down awake, don't use a monitor, let him cry for 15 minutes before checking on him. If he wakes up in the middle of the night let him cry for 15 minutes before feeding him.  Don't let him nurse himself to sleep.  She even told us that she recommends a pacifier while most everything else says avoid it if you can! Plus a lot more.

This was all hard to hear.  It felt like she was saying that I was doing everything wrong.  I know that in reality she was just trying to help us get him to sleep through the night, but I feel like her methods are pretty extreme.  I feel like Cooper is too little for his crib.  I like him in his bassinet.  I also feel like 15 minutes is a LONG time to let a baby cry.  This all just seems so hard to me.  It is difficult deciding what things to do and what not to do.  I want to do what is best for him so Kyle and I are trying to work on some of these things, but not use all of them.

At the end of the appointment Cooper got his second Hepatitis shot which really sucked.  My mom went with us and she helped the nurse.  I stood off to the side and looked away.  Partly because I am afraid of needles but also because I couldn't watch them hurt my baby.  He screamed and cried and I held him and cried with him.  I was already feeling emotional from what the doctor said and seeing his poor crying face really set me off.

Cooper was fine afterwards and so was I.

Here is Babi holding Cooper before the doctor came in.
His is his poor little thigh with the band aid on it.  So sad!
Here is proud Babi holding sleeping Cooper (also before the doctor came in)

Cooper's First Bottle!

Last night Cooper got his first bottle of mommy milk!

Daddy got to give Cooper his first bottle and they both did great.  Cooper had no problem drinking the entire 2.5 ounces.  Afterwards Kyle burped Cooper and then put him to sleep.

I have heard that some babies have a hard time switching to bottles after nursing, but not Cooper.  I should have known he would have no problem.  He is such a good baby!  Now that we know Cooper will take a bottle we can start considering leaving him for longer periods of time and maybe even a date night for mommy and daddy!  Not that I am eager to leave my little guy but I know there are quite a few people dying to get to babysit our little guy and feed him!

It was seriously one of the sweetest things ever.  I am so excited that Kyle gets to have this special time with Cooper.  We are planning on having Kyle give Cooper his bottle each night before we go to bed for the night.
This pictures is so sweet.  It looks like he is holding on to a blankie but really it is a burp rag so that he doesn't make a mess on his clothes.

I just can't get enough of this amazing little boy!

Cooper is 1 month old!

Cooper turned 1 month old on August 4th!  We had a busy day that day but we stopped long enough to take these cute pictures!

Cooper you still fit in newborn diapers however some newborn diapers are bigger than others.  We prefer pampers.

You still fit in newborn clothes however you have gotten too long for some of your newborn onesies.  We have started a pile of clothes that you have outgrown which makes me sad.  I can't believe we are already going to start putting things away for our next baby!

You are still exclusively breastfeeding but we are getting ready to start feeding you bottles with pumped milk.  You are so sweet when you eat and I love having that time with you.  I look forward to Daddy getting to feed you and share in that special time with you also.   It will also be fun to let your grandparents and other people feed you.

You are such a sweet laid back baby.  You love to be held and just look around a room.  You have big bright eyes that catches every one's attention.  Your personality is really starting to come through.  You don't smile a lot but you smile more each day.  You have a serious personality and you have a way of moving your eyebrows to look very serious.  It is adorable.

You are also a wiggle worm!  You seem to be constantly moving your arms and legs which means I often get blurry pictures!!  Your legs are very strong and you like to push off of things and try to roll over.  You also try to put your weight on your legs and stand.
You are a pretty good sleeper.  You get up for 1-2 feedings a night depending.  We don't have a real schedule yet so each night it is different.  We are going to try to establish a better evening routine soon.

Speaking of evening routines, you are not a fan of baths.  We are trying a couple of different techniques in hopes of you enjoying baths more.

Your first month of life has been very busy and fun.  We have done so many things and you have met so many people.  You do great around other people and let anyone hold you.  You already seem to prefer mommy which I love, but I also hope that you will always be friendly with other people.  We feel so blessed to have so many people love you so much!

Here you are with your Cooper bear at 1 month compared to you at 4 days old!  Your bruising is completely gone and you have really started to put on weight.  Your face and tummy are rounder and your legs and arms are getting chubbier.  You are adorable!

Mommy and Daddy love you the most of course!  We enjoy this phase so much and are trying to soak it all in because you are already growing so fast!

I have been a bad blogger...

Most of it is because since Cooper turned 3 weeks old he is awake more. Therefore I am holding him more or trying to entertain him so I don't have free hands (I am typing with one hand right now)

The reason I skipped yesterday's blog is because I was busy hanging out with this adorable little lady and her mommy!

Angela and Annelise are here from Japan to meet Cooper and MacKenzie and spend time with us.  Their flight got in really early and they came straight to our house to spend the day.

At first Annelise wasn't too interested in her cousins, but then she asked to hold Cooper.  Cooper was asleep so he did great just laying there and she loved it.  I kept asking if she wanted me to take him and she would say "still holding" or "I hold baby"  She would give him kisses, cover him in a blanket, and even gave Cooper her cookie monster stuffed animal.  She held him for more than 30 minutes.  It was so stinking sweet!!

She just watched her movie and held him.

Aunt Angela brought the babies all kinds of goodies so Cooper looked over the couch at the prizes.  While doing this he was hungry and kept sucking his arm and gave himself a hickey!

Ranger and Riley loved the visitors!  They thought everyone was there to play with them...including MacKenzie.  Ranger kept bringing toys to her and Babi.

Then we did a photo shoot of Mac and Coop in these adorable cow outfits.  Mac was a little restless so Cooper just hung out in the basket until she was ready.  Doesn't he look like a model.  So cute!!

What is funny is we didn't buy these matching outfits.  Cooper's Mimi bought his back in February and MacKenzie got hers from a family friend at a baby shower.  But once we got them we knew they had to have a picture done in them.Aren't they adorable!!
There were a lot of messed up pictures where only one of them was looking at the camera.

We had such a fun day together, but to be honest I was exhausted at the end of the day!!
