Chloe is 5 months old!

I am finally getting around to writing up this post. She wasn't in the best mood for these pictures. But that is just life and memories.

Our girl is 5 months old and still such a peanut.
No doctor appointment this month so I don't know her stats but she weighs about 11 pounds.

Size 1 clothes
Mostly 3 month clothes or 0-3 month depending on the brand

More dark hair is starting to come and gorgeous blue eyes.

Chloe is really getting a personality. She is a smiley little thing and her favorite time of day is morning. She literally wakes up smiling through sleepy eyes.

She has now started laughing when we tickle her or pretend to gobble her up.

Developmentally

She is working on rolling over but still doesn't do it. She will get on her side and get close.

She has discovered her fingers and want to be a finger sucker.  She likes to suck on her middle and ring finger just like her mommy did as a baby. But we quickly pull those fingers out and replace them with her pacifier.

Chloe has started jabbering lately and can be quite chatty. She also does this cute smacking thing with her mouth that kind of sounds like she is giving kisses.

Eating

Chloe is still a great nurser and eater. She has gotten the hang of bottle and now takes 3.5 ounces at a time.

Chloe nurses at 5am, has 4 or 5 bottles at daycare, nurses when I get home, and then nurses again before bed. Sometimes she will have a late bottle at daycare and then I get home 30 minutes later. Chloe doesn't care as soon as I get in the door she wants to nurse. I think it is a comfort nurse. And though it makes things hard on me trying to get dinner started or whatever, I appreciate that it forces me to slow down and just give her some mommy time.

Chloe is a very enthusiastic eater. :) Basically this means she is a noisy eater. She always seems to be hungry during church even though it is her typical nap time and man then girl makes lots of smacking and gulping sounds. At Cooper's class program this month I nursed her and my friend said 'wow she is a noisy eater' lol

Sleep

On April 6th we had our family reunion and she hardly slept at all the entire day. Well that night she slept all night. I thought it was a fluke but from then on she has slept through the night. It was perfect timing for this tired working mommy because April 7th started a crazy work schedule for me for a week and I was getting home so late that I appreciated the uninterrupted sleep.

She goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 but many nights I think she is ready by 6:30. The only reason we don't put her to bed then is because I need more time with her. Many days I don't get home until 6.

She also stills sleeps with a swaddle or sleep sack at night.

Chloe has started spitting up a lot lately. She is still gaining weight so it isn't too big of a concern but I suspect it is either spicy food or caffeine. It is hard to tell since I pump and don't really know what food 'is in' each bottle but that is my guess. Which makes me said because I love spicy food.

She has also had a snotty nose and dealt with some allergies this month. Reminds me of Casen.

You still have cradle cap and I scrub it a little in the bath but just haven't taken the time to get rid of it. Sorry but mommy's evenings are just so crazy.

You love bath time so much.

And you are quite the drooler lately but still too early for teeth for you.

Chloe and her daddy

April was a big adjustment for our family as we settled into me being back to work full-time. Chloe did not take this adjustment easily and didn't make it easy for Kyle. She would often cry the moment Kyle got home with the kids from daycare until I walked in the door about an hour later. This was frustrating for Kyle and SOOO hard for me. I hated calling and hearing her cry in the background. Good ole' mom guilt was at its worse.

Kyle loves Chloe I know but at the same time I know that bonding with her has been tough because the evenings are really hard with her. I get to spend time with her every morning when she is so sweet and happy.

Chloe and her brothers

Cooper adores Chloe and the feeling is mutual. He is constantly checking on her, playing with her, giving her the pacifier, and telling her how cute she is.  Casen loves Chloe too but he is less hands on. He gets more annoyed when I ask him to help or comfort her. That being said he loves helping with her bath time. He is very sweet with her.

We love this spunky little thing so much. She is so much fun and it just keeps getting better. We love you Chloe Girl!

Oh those sweet cheeks and chubby thighs

And those sweet little arms rolls. We have been waiting for those :)

What I’ve been reading

I listened to 6 books in the month of May and they were some good ones.

I actually bought this one as a daily deal and it did not disappoint. It is about 3 women who are part of the French resistance during WWII. It kept me engaged the whole time and I couldn't stop listening.

One Day in December was recommended by some other bloggers. I thought it was a very cute story about a girl who falls in love with a guy that she sees for only moments from a bus window. She spends months looking for him without any luck until she sees him...and he is dating her best friend.

Big Sexy Love is the story of a girl trying to help her best friend find the love of her life before she dies. This leads her on a hilarious adventure from England to New York City. This book had me laughing out loud and was super cute. Kind of reminded me of Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

This is a story of the Prince of England falling in love with an American girl and their struggles to try to make it to the altar. It follows along a similar storyline to Prince William and Kate except the girl is American. I thought it was cute, frustrating, interesting, and enjoyable.

Alright Siracusa has been on my list for YEARS. I remember seeing it in People magazine and added it to my list. It is about 2 couples that go on vacation with one couple's 10 year old daughter. There are betrayal, secrets, and it is definitely rated R. It was good but not my favorite.

The scattering is the second book of the series The Outliers that I read a few months ago. It was really good but I was so sad to find out the 3rd book doesn't have an audio version. I am going to have to suck it up and read that one old school.

So those are my May reads. If you are looking for just one or two new books I would say the first 4 were really good depending on what you like to read.

Here are my other book reviews-

Memorial weekend

As mentioned in my post earlier our Saturday of Memorial Day started with the Polka Fest Parade.

Then we raced home to shower, change clothes, and go to a birthday party. Our cousin, Barron on Kyle's side of the family was turning one so we went to celebrate. He had the cutest little picnic party. But somehow the only picture I took was of America's sweetheart.

When we got home the boys played with the birthday present from Aunt Shari and Uncle Ron. This is such a fun target game that is safe for my walls and inside. The base blows air and keeps the balls in the air while you try to knock them off like a carnival game.

Chloe ended up taking a little catnap with mommy and I wasn't sad about the cuddle time.

Sunday we went to church and dropped Cooper off with a friend to spend the night at the lake. I didn't get any pictures from them but he had so much fun.

We came home and played and did chores

Someone tried out her jumper for the first time. Her love for it didn't last but 10 minutes but that's okay.

That night Casen picked a movie and we cuddled on the floor with popcorn. Chloe wasn't quite ready for bed so she came back out to watch a little bit of the movie. And Casen wanted to take a lot of pictures.

The next morning we did some more target practice.

Then Cooper came home and we went to visit Granny and Papa. The boys were playing so well that the grownups got to play a round of canasta. We hadn't gotten to play in a while and it was so much fun.
Again Casen went around taking some pictures.

It was a great long weekend balancing fun and relaxation.

Polka Fest Parade

Memorial Day weekend we participated in the Annual Polka Fest Parade. We rode on a float representing the KJZT youth group. I remember riding the float as a child but the youth group hasn't done one in a long time.

My mom made costumes for 6 grandchildren (yes 6!) and is also making 2 more for Catelyn and Annelise to wear when they visit.

Isn't this costume adorable!?! My mom is so talented.

Chloe wasn't sure what to think of her outfit at first

And she didn't like the scratchy ribbon on her bonnet

But when I sent the pictures to my mom she said 'why is her apron on her head?' Bahahaha!!! I was laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my face. I thought it was a bonnet!

All better

Chloe with Mac and Tins. These girls love their baby cousin

And the boys who I had to convince to get dressed but were such good sports wearing their shirts with fancy sleeves :)  They really love their Babi.

And Babi and her girl

Everyone loves pictures with Chloe

All the kids getting settled on the trailer. We had a great turnout and a full trailer.

One of my cousins took this picture of us in the parade.

Chloe, Tracen, and I rode in the truck with the air conditioner (but mostly to keep her out of the very bright sun.

Another picture my cousin took

The boys had fun and look forward to doing it again next year.
