What I've Been Reading

It has been over a year since I did a post like this. Therefore I don't remember all of the details so instead of my review I am just going to list all of the books I listened to in 2018.  Because I only do audiobooks thanks to me long commute.

I have a subscription to Audible where I pay $16 a month for one credit (one book).  I also sometimes buy books when they are on sale or the daily deal that is usually $3-5. Additionally I listen to books for free through our public library. Unfortunately a lot of the books on my list are available as an e-book but not audiobook so I have to wait for them to get it or buy it through audible.  But each time I check the library before I buy a book on Audible.

So here are the free books I listened to in 2018-

These through the library-
  • Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
  • In A Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware
  • Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica
  • Don't You Cry by Mary Kubica
  • Hardcore Twenty-Four by Janet Evanovich
  • Y is for Yesterday by Sue Grafton - Sadly Sue Grafton died in 2018 before she wrote Z so the series just ended suddenly with no closure.  I have been reading this series since I was a teenager so I am so sad.
  • The Silent Wife by A S A Harrison
  • Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
  • The Address by Fiona Davis
  • Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham -disappointing
  • Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate- Great book but some really tough parts
  • The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead- Another good book with some heart wrenching parts
  • Lying Game by Ruth Ware
  • The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond- Kinda like stepford wives. Really good
  • The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks
  • The Baker's Secret by Stephen P Kiernan
  • Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis - So many people talked about this book and I thought it was okay.
  • The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah- Another highly recommended book. It was good but I felt like it just kept going with more twists and turns.
Audible books-
  • Liar By K L Slater
  • Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
  • The Lies We Told by Diane Chamberlain
  • The Silent Child by Sarah A Denzil
  • China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan
  • All the Little Children by Jo Furniss
  • The Safest Lies by Megan Miranda
  • The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain
  • Silent Lies by Kathryn Croft
  • Where'd You Go Bernadetter by Maria Simple
  • Inconceivable by Carolyn Savage and Sean Savage
  • The Children by Ann Leary
  • The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
  • Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks
  • Still Me by Jojo Moyes
  • The Secrets of Midwives by Sally Hepworth
  • You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott
  • Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan
  • Bringing up Boys by James C Dobson
  • If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins
  • The Perfect Girl by Gilly Macmillan
  • The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe (listened to this with the boys in the car and Cooper loved it)
  • The Second Mrs Hockaday by Susan Rivers
  • The Ruthless Gentleman by Louise Bay - Rated R - I fast forwarded through a lot of parts
  • My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan
  • Why I Hate Green Beans by Lincee Ray
  • Lie to Me by J T Ellison

Oh my goodness that is 42 books! Almost 4 books a month.  I am not sure if I feel accomplished or embarrassed by that many. I think it shows how much time I spend in the car.  Plus I have listened to books while on maternity leave while I am nursing Chloe and stuff.

My next post will be the books I have read in 2019 so far and hopefully I can actually give my thoughts on them.

Weekend Recap- Remember all of those germs....

Saturday morning Cooper woke up not feeling well and by noon he was officially sick.

Too bad earlier in the day Cooper and Casen were doing some wrestling so we figured Casen wouldn't be far behind.

Sweet Chloe has learned to hold her paci in her mouth

Since Cooper was sick Casen and I decided to play uno. But not just any uno. He found Barbie Uno that my mom gave me in college.  He said 'I want to play Uno with the girls on it' Ha!

That evening I left the boys at home and took Chloe over to Melisa's.  They watched Chloe while I went to help at a casino night.  Every year I go help my mom with the silent auction.  It is fun because I help but also get to spend time with my momma and daddy. It's like I am an only child :)

Sweet Tracen couldn't wait to hold Whoa-wy

Lusa was so excited to watch our girl

I sent this pic of mammasita with a margarita. I only had one but it was nice to have an adult beverage after over a year.

Aunt Lusa was awesome at sending pics.  Shortly after this she said 'it's a good thing Tracen isn't going to be a big brother.  He loves Chloe but he keeps trying to throw shit at her' Ha!

And he was a wee bit jealous.  I think he was ready for her to go home.

She watched some tv with the girls

And I took a selfie with my momma at the blackjack table. We look a lot alike in this picture.

Baby Burrito

And at the end of the night dad won 150 $1 scratch-offs.  He ended up winning $59.

The next morning Cooper had spiked a high fever.  Kyle took him to Carenow and I stayed with Casen and Chloe.

Casen took the picture below without me knowing.

Sure enough Cooper had the flu. #damnmuseum

So I cancelled our plans to see Lego Movie 2 and called Mimi to cancel our plans to go to Alley Cats on Monday.  So much for a fun long weekend.

Chloe and I camped out in our bedroom most of the day to keep away from the germs.  Cooper stayed in the playroom and Casen in the living room.  I wasn't sure if Casen would be sick so we stayed away from him too.

I did play a round of Wahoo with Casen but that was a mistake because he kept knocking into the board and sending marbles rolling. #canada #familyjoke

I had to change shirts thanks to spit up

Our weekend wasn't nearly what we had planned but oh well.

Life Lately

Monday we spent the day at home because once again pest control was supposed to come only for the weather not to cooperate.

Look how much dark hair Chloe still has in back. This is the same hair she was born with not regrowth. However she is getting a bald spot in the back.

I got a fun Amazon package that included a variety pack of Flamin hot chips I got for only $6 thanks to Save and Share Deals.  I am going to try to do a post soon of what I have been priming.

On this day 9 years ago we got a big snow storm. On facebook popped up an old video of Ranger and Riley playing in the snow. My Aunt Henriette sent me this picture of what Riley was up to 9 years later. She sure is living the good life. It made me miss that sweet girl and really miss Ranger. I hate that Chloe won't know Ranger.

Sweet smiley girl

That night while Cooper and Kyle were at jiu-jitsu Casen and I finally put together this foam nativity that we meant to do for epiphany.

This face cracks me up.  She looks skeptical

That's better

This burp cloth was partially covering Chloe and Cooper moved it and said 'she looks like a priest'

On Wednesday Chloe and I went with Cooper on his field trip to the Perot Museum.

He had so much fun but the entire time I thought about all of the germs.  Everything says 'touch this, put your face here, smell this' GERMS GERMS GERMS

It was fun seeing Cooper with his friends and getting to hangout with some of my favorite mommas

Cooper got to ride home with us.  We stopped at Sweet Frog before going home.

We picked up Casen and spent the afternoon playing at home.

Thursday Chloe played while I got ready. That smile just melts me.

Dressed and headed to Cooper's class party.

Chloe and I took Cooper to jiu-jitsu but we got there and class was cancelled. I didn't see the Facebook post. So we went back home and enjoyed our evening as a family.

Love this sweet valentine!

Friday Cooper didn't have school but he wanted to play at daycare so both boys were gone.  Chloe and I hung out around the house.  Kyle left work early so he was home with us that afternoon.

That sweet crinkled nose

Flirty little thing knows exactly what to do when mommy's phone comes out.

And a blowout required an outfit change with another big ole bow!

I think I scared her!

That night I made cupcakes and the boys decorated them.  Casen decorated one, asked to eat it and was done.  Cooper decorated the other 5 and then asked to decorate more so I let him do another 6.  Then he said I don't want a cupcake, just icing.  Not how I pictured cupcake decorating but whatever.
