What we have been up to!

Monday this cute little guy and I went to have lunch with Mimi, Nana, Okie Nana, Shari, and Tiffany.  It was Okie Nana's official 100th birthday!  We had delicious salads from Red Robin and leftover cake from Saturday.  It was such a nice visit and Okie Nana was thrilled to see Cooper again.

After lunch we went shopping with Mimi to find a crib for her house.  We didn't buy anything that day, but Mimi went back later and bought one of the beds she liked.  She also got a car seat base for her car so we don't have to move ours around all of the time.

Tuesday we had a lazy day at home and then we made a quick shopping trip with Babi, MacKenzie and Aunt Melisa.  We found a cute outfit for Cooper to wear for some pictures in August.

Here is Babi trying some shoes on Cooper's feet.  He was wide awake for that one!!  Then we grabbed Taco Tuesday and headed home.
Kyle had to go to CareNow to take care of a sore on his back. It had gotten infected and therefore they had to cut it open and clean it out. It is good that he got it taken care of, but unfortunately he is pretty uncomfortable now. Hopefully it heals soon.

Babi stayed the night with us that night which we always love!!  So while Kyle was at the clinic she helped me give Cooper a bath.  After the bath we put him in this cute gown he got from Aunt Angela!

Isn't he the cutest moo cow you ever did see?  Love this little guy!!

Wednesday Cooper and I decided to run errands.  We went to CVS to drop off and pick up a prescription.  We also went to Bank of America and opened a savings account for Cooper. It took us almost two hours to get it all take care of but this sweet little guy did great.  He got a little fussy so I held him and he fell fast asleep.  He slept the remainder of the time.  I decided not to press my luck with more errands and just headed home to relax.  Cooper and I took a nice nap together that afternoon.

Today Cooper's Mimi came to watch him while I ran some quick errands.  I returned a dress to Kohl's that did not fit my new post-pregnancy figure at all.  Then I got gas, dropped off dry cleaning and went to Walmart.  I was only gone for about an hour but it was nice to get out and those errands would have taken a lot more time getting a carrier in and out of the car.  Mimi was here for about 4 hours and it was a nice visit.

Cooper still seems to be going through a growth spurt which means I am feeding him a lot more.  His naps are unpredictable so we are a little cautious on taking him out since I am nursing.  We had to cancel dinner plans with friends tonight which was disappointing.  Plus Kyle's back is still bothering him and he had to go to a follow appointment for them to change out the packing in the wound.

I am hoping to start pumping in the next week or so which will be nice so then we can have bottles on hand for when we are out and about.  Plus we can have babysitters and Kyle can give him a bottle if we want.

Kyle took tomorrow off of work due to his back pain so we are looking forward to a nice long weekend as a family.

Cooper is 3 weeks old!

Today Cooper is 3 weeks old.  I can't believe how fast the time is going by.

I love this sweet little guy soooo much!  I can't believe that I get to be his mommy.

Some nights you sleep on my chest and other nights you sleep in the bassinet.  Saturday night you slept from 9:30-12:30 in the bassinet and again from 1:30-5:30.  Then you were in the bed with us until it was time to get ready for church.

Sunday during the day it seemed like you were starting to go through a growth spurt because you wanted to nurse all day. You would fall asleep but about 30-45 minutes later you would wake up and want to nurse again.  This was tough on mommy so Sunday night I let you sleep on my chest just so I could rest.

We had a very busy weekend and you did wonderful at just going with the flow and sleeping when we needed you too.

You are still such a laid back baby and we love you for it.  We are always on the go so it is great that you are so easy going and flexible.

You are still fitting in your newborn onesies.  I am trying to put you in some of your 0-3 month outfits but alot of them seem so wide on you.  You are still long and lean, but you are starting to put weight on in your belly, face, and thighs.

You are starting to enjoy your bouncy chair and we let you watch a little bit of tv.  You like to look up at the little birds on the mobile part of your bouncer.  Riley has started to bring you toys when you are in your bouncer.  She can't wait for you to be able to play with her.

You went to church for the first time this past Sunday.  You also got to meet your great-great-grandmother who turned 100 today.
You are such a sweet little boy and we all love you so much.

Happy 3 weeks old Cooper!!

Busy week

Monday we had a nice day at home.  We spent time playing on the floor.

We even did some tummy time and Ranger tried to show him how to do it right.
Monday afternoon we met Kyle at the grocery store to do some shopping.  I love grocery shopping so it was a fun outing for me.

Tuesday we had a play date with Melisa and MacKenzie.  I like to put Cooper in outfits when we go out instead of just onesies.  This is a cute polo and short set from Melisa and Trent.
On our outing we went to Taco Tuesday
Then we went to Hobby Lobby and Cooper slept his way through the play date!
That night we gave Cooper his first real bath.  He did great!!
He cried at first but then he just relaxed and let us do our thing.

Wednesday we spent the day at home again and relaxed.  Then we went to dinner with David and Jen for the first time since Cooper's arrival.  We usually go to dinner once a week with them so we have missed seeing them.  It was nice to hangout with them and have adult conversations.

Today we went over to Melisa's and hung out with Babi, MacKenzie, Carsyn and Mary.  Carsyn loved holding Cooper and she was so sweet with him.

Mary was out of town so she hadn't met Cooper yet.  She loved holding him and is looking forward to her own little one in January.  It was so fun to just hangout and chat with Mary.

I grew up with all of my cousins and we were so close.  I think we need to get into the habit of girls nights again once a month so we can all chat.

While at Melisa's we weighed Cooper and he weighs about 7lbs 10oz.  I am so happy with his weight gain.  He is still such a peanut but he is starting to get a double chin and little (you have to look close) rolls in his legs.

C Button Project Finally Done

I am finally done with my button 'C' for Cooper's room.  I have been done with it for a while, but I still needed to get it mounted in the frame.  The one I bought didn't have a back so it needed to be done.  Every time I went to Hobby Lobby to have it done there would be a line of people and the guys in that department go soooo slow.  I finally went back yesterday with Melisa and got it done.

I once again had to wait a long time but at least it only cost me $2.50!!  So here it is!!

Here is my next project-

I am going to make one for MacKenzie in pinks, purples, and browns.  Now we just need the brads to go on sale at Hobby Lobby so we can get them 50% off.  Because we all know that you should never pay full price at Hobby Lobby because it will eventually be on sale!

Weekend Recap

I am completely in love with this little boy!!!

Friday after Kyle got home from work we went to visit Mimi and Grandpa.  They were having a garage sale so we took some our stuff over there for them to sell.  Cooper did great on the outing and of course we all sat around him just looking at him and talking about how cute he is.

Saturday we had to go to our Baptism class so we took Cooper over to Mimi for his first time away from mommy and daddy.  We were gone for 2 hours and Cooper slept the entire time.  But I think Mimi still loved it.
 (sleeping on Mimi's bed)

Then we went to Cracker Barrel for family dinner that night.  Cooper slept just like this the entire time.  Everyone wanted him awake but Kyle and I were glad that he slept.  I didn't want to have to find somewhere to nurse him and Kyle didn't want to be the couple with the screaming baby.

Sunday we didn't make it to church but we plan to go back next Sunday.

We left around 12:30 to head to Ennis for the day.  Kyle wanted to shoot his gun and do some stuff for deer season.  And we got to take Cooper to meet his Papa and have dinner with Granny and Papa.
Here is Cooper in a newborn romper that I bought him.  This is one of the first things I bought him and it is still a little big.

Here are the two cousins headed to go pick up Babi together.  They both did great!

Papa holding both babies.  As soon as we got there he said he wanted a picture holding them both.  He is so sweet.

Just Cooper and Papa!

We didn't get home until after 10 that night and boy were we tired.

Here I will leave you with this funny picture.  The first one is dark so you can't see much but look closely at the second one that I lightened.

Happy 2 weeks old Cooper!

I can't believe it has already been 2 weeks!  It is just amazing how fast it has gone by.  It seems like just yesterday I was in the hospital worrying about your heart rate fluctuating.

So far you like to sleep in your bassinet during the day and at night you like to sleep on mommy's chest or in my arms.  Up until 2 nights ago I had slept on the couch with you.  I was starting to miss my bed and decided that it was time to get you to sleep in the bassinet in our room so I could sleep in my own bed.  You did great that night but it wasn't in the bassinet.  Daddy had a hard time sleeping, but I think it will get easier as time goes.  We are both still nervous and cautious with you.

You don't have a real sleep schedule at this point.  You usually nap for about 3 hours after you nurse but sometimes less.  You sleep the longest stretches when you are sleeping on my chest.

You are starting to be awake more and I love watching you look around and see what catches your eye.  You are a very observant little guy and the minute you hear my voice you start looking for me.

You are doing great at nursing.  Sometime you are a little lazy and hurt mommy, but then you get back on track and are fine.  I enjoy nursing you and the quiet time we have together.

You go through about 10-12 diapers a day.  You seem to pee a lot which is good as long as it is in the diaper and not on mommy and daddy.  We have both had the opportunity to be pee'd on now.  Plus you have pee'd on your changing pad a couple of times.  You have also had a few pooping accidents but so far no shooting poo that we have been warned about.  I am sure our time will come.

Last Thursday night (day 10) your circumcision ring came off which was right on schedule because the doctor said around day 10.  Then the morning of day 11 Babi changed your outfit and then soon afterwards noticed that your umbilical cord came off.  We were excited to have both of those things gone so you can have a real bath.  Daddy and I plan to give you one tonight!!  Also we were doing your newborn pictures that day so it helps that they were gone for those.

So far in your first two weeks you have been to the doctor, Joann's fabric, Aunt Lusa's house, Mimi and Grandpa's (old and new) house, Cracker Barrel, Carino's, Babi and Grandaddy's house, and Granny and Papa's house.  We were slow to get out of the house in the beginning but this weekend we took you on a lot of adventures!

I don't know how much you weigh at this point because our scale isn't very accurate.  I am planning to take you by Aunt Lusa's house one day this week because she has a better scale.

You are such a sweet little guy. You are very laid back at this point and easy going.  That reminds me of your daddy.  Everyone comments on how little you are and they are right you are still very little, but I can slowly see that you are packing on some weight.  You are also very serious.  Part of it is because you are still so young so you don't really smile yet, but also you have very serious looking eyes.  Again probably from your daddy!!

I love you so much and love watching you change and grow each day.

Happy 2 week birthday Cooper!!

So serious!!!

Daddy's first time on his own

On Wednesday evening I wanted Mexican food and needed to run to the drug store for a few things.  So I decided to leave Kyle with Cooper while Cooper was sleeping.  I left right at 7:30.

At 7:40 when I had just pulled up to Walgreens I got a text message from Kyle that said "Are you almost back"

I called to ask him if things were okay and he said yeah just to hurry back.  I asked if Cooper was awake and he said no.
Of course they only had one cashier open and the customer ahead of me could not find her ID for her check.  She took forever!!
I finally got done and then headed to Rosa's to get us to-go food.
I pulled back up to the house right at 8:00 and boy was Kyle happy to see me. Cooper was fine and so was Kyle.  Kyle is a great daddy but I know he worries that he can't soothe Cooper if I am gone.

Here is Cooper trying out his bouncer.  He liked it for about 10 minutes but then that was enough.

Here he is just hanging out with mommy.

This last picture I wanted because he was using the new blanket his Babi made, but I was waiting to turn the lights on and he was just waking up from a nap and mad at this point.

July 11th- Cooper's original due date!

This is Cooper's original due date and instead we celebrate him being 1 week old!  I can't believe he is already a week ago.  It seem like just yesterday we were checking in to the hospital.  It is just crazy how time flies.

Kyle's cousin Tiffany came over to meet Cooper at she brought me Chickfila!  It was so yummy and so great to have company on my first day on my own with Cooper.  We had a great time visiting.
Then that night my dad brought up my Grandad (my mom's dad) to visit.  I hadn't seen him in a while and he hadn't met Cooper or MacKenzie yet.  Once again Melisa brought MacKenzie over and we all had a nice visit.  Plus my Grandad got to see Kyle's old jeep which my grandpa loved!

And then I will end with this adorable pictures.  Kyle likes to come home each day from work and hold a napping Cooper.  I love seeing them together.  My heart just melts.

This was my first day completely on my own and things went really well.  I struggled to find something to watch on tv at times, but Cooper and I had a good day together.

July 10th

Sunday we had a lazy day at home.  We considered going grocery shopping just to get out of the house, but we never did.  We did take Cooper for a car ride to Sonic to pick up dinner.

Once again I was nervous that day in anticipation of Sunday night handling Cooper on my own and then being on my own on Monday.  It doesn't help that I haven't slept in my bed since we got home.  I have been sleeping on the couch because it is easier to nurse in the living room than to nurse in our room.  I am actually considering moving Cooper's glider into our room for a little while so I would have somewhere to nurse and then put him in the bassinet in our room.

Up to this point Cooper naps during the day in his bassinet but at night sleeps on my chest.  I am not sure why but he seems to not like the bassinet at night.  Plus I am constantly worrying about his breathing.  During the day when he is in his bassinet I am awake so it is easy for me to get up and check on him.  At night if he is in his bassinet I am up every 10-20 minutes checking on him.  It is just easier to have him on my chest and know that he is fine.

This is something I am going to have to work on.

July 9th

On Saturday Kyle helped his parents with moving into their new house and we hung out at home.  My mom left around lunch time and I got emotional.  I got scared about doing things without my mom there and then completely on my own when Kyle went back to work on Monday.  It all seemed very overwhelming.

That afternoon my Aunt Neva and cousin Erica came by to visit.  Cooper was wide awake the whole time and they just loved on him.  How could you not love this face?

That evening Melisa brought MacKenzie back over and some of our family from Ennis came.  My Aunt Sherry, Aunt Sandra, Aunt Tina, Aunt Carla. My cousins Savannah, Brianna, Carleigh, Carsyn.  Along with Amber, Marissa, and Stormi.  It was a full house and at first I was anxious about it but it went great.  They got a chance to see my house which they hadn't seen before and they loved taking turns holding Cooper and MacKenzie.
