February and March Catch Up

This boy was happy we were back from Disney World because that meant he was back home in his own bed.

And these boys soaked up some tv time when they got back.

And then we had a dinner with the Tobolas and my parents because they missed us so much.

Look at those lucky grandparents.. just two girls missing

And Casen was excited for Tio Tony's when we got back and he got to have a date with mommy and daddy.

He is so dang cute!

And my Ash Wednesday selfie I took for family

Cooper had his first soccer practice with his new team the Bulldogs. He knew 3 of the kids from school so he just jumped right in.

Cross cloud

Cooper and I love Uno!

Sometimes baby brother joins and sometimes he loses interest two plays in :)

One weekend my granddad was dog sitting Riley so we went over to visit. I swear she remembered me! It was so fun to see her.

On the wall of my grandfather's house there are all of the grandkid pictures from over the years. I took some quick shots of my favorite ones.

Then we went to Granny's and played some skipbo

The boys didn't love it so they played legos and I played for two players :) Win win!

And then we went to my parents for a bit and Casen dressed up in his favorite puppy costume. This was Uncle Tyler's when he was little and my mom snagged it out of a garage sale for dress up clothes at her house.

We upgraded Cooper to a booster and I am regretting it. These things are just not good for car sleepers...and we are car sleepers. Luckily my boys don't spent that much time in the care except on the weekends.

I saw these floating around facebook and tried them...not good.

Randoms from February

Cooper and I made this as his 100th day of school shirt with his fingerprints and a marker. It was easy and he loved it.

And baby brother wanted to take pictures

One night I laid out all of our Disney clothes/gear for or DW trip!! (separate posts coming to recap Disney)

The boys went to Babi and Grandaddy's so we could get stuff done and prepare for our trip. Plus they would miss them while we were gone.

Casen went to his first dentist appointment. He was wide-eyed and skeptical but did great!

See the skepticism :)

They were surprised but he even let them do x-rays

Checking out the pics

Cleaning the teeth and he got to hold the straw

Wearing our TCU gear

Best friends having lunch together

Oh this sweet smily face

Casen and Tracen= BFFs= Future Partners In Crime

When we returned from our trip there was a lot of this...I think Ranger was glad to be home from the Tobola house :)

And a lot of tv watching.  We did a lot of recuperating from our fun trip.

Swim Lessons of 2017

Swim lessons last year were a disaster. The kids really came away learning nothing or very little.

This year I decided to sign them up at the Waxahachie YMCA. It is a little inconvenient for us but I felt confident it would be better organized, the instructors properly trained, and they had evening classes that worked with our schedule.

When we showed up I was initially surprised by how many kids there were (35-40) but I knew I signed the boys up for a class that was a 1:4 ratio so wasn't too worried. Sure enough there are about 11 instructors. My boys actually got lucky and they each are with a 1:2 ratio.

Both boys are against the wall in the pic below

Cooper got a young guy that is good but firm which is exactly what he needs. We could hear him jabbering away from where we sat. This didn't surprise us because he is chatty but gets even chattier when he is nervous. Sure enough I could hear him negotiating with the instructor.

After the 30 minute session the instructors walk around and talk to each parent. Riley said he could tell Cooper was nervous and I filled him in that yes he talks a lot when he is nervous and be careful because he will try to talk you out of doing things. Armando said Casen did good but was very shy but some of that was because it was so cold due to it sprinkling.

Cooper didn't want to get out of the pool so I think that was a good sign.

On Day 2 I didn't get to attend because I had a work deadline. But when Casen walked in the door he said ' Daddy throwed me in the water.....but the big guy catched me and I not die' (shaking his head) 'nope I not die'  I couldn't stop laughing he is so funny. And then he kept calling his teacher 'the big guy' and when I asked him he said 'I not know his name'

Day 3 went pretty well but Cooper was supposed to jump in and work at going under. He was very hesitant and kept avoiding doing it. The instructor kept having to shoosh the kids but I don't think it was just Cooper. Finally he jumped in twice and Riley let him go under before he got Cooper. He definitely has a ways to go but hopefully after 2 weeks he will be swimming :) A girl can hope...

About to practice floating on his back.

Standing waiting to jump in

We will see how they are doing after 5 more sessions.

Casen swallowed money

At 9:30 on Sunday night Casen came to the living room and this happened

C:  mommy, I eat money. It in my mouth and I choke.
M: what you swallowed money? What kind of money?
C: Just little money like this (shows me a dime in his hand)
M: did you swallow it or spit it out?

He doesn't know his coins so I try to confirm it was actually a dime or could it have been a quarter. I ask him if he swallowed it and he said yes and his throat hurt.

After texting my family they all said I needed to take him to the ER and make sure it isn't stuck. Especially since it was bedtime so I wouldn't be able to monitor him for a while. I also called our pediatrician's on call nurse and since he was still complaining of pain she recommended the same.

So we loaded up in the car and this happened. Obviously he is in pain from this coin.

I know ERs can take forever so I came prepared with a blanket, jackets for us, a drink, and reading material. I laid him down and got us checked in and he was oblivious to it all.

They checked his vitals and again he slept. I had to stand him on the scale and he laid down on the scale to go back to sleep.

Then a friend from elementary and junior high poked her head in and said she would be doing his x-rays so they took us back. Chelsea worked her best with this sleepy boy and we laughed because she has her own Casen (different spelling) and he is her challenging one.

Based on the x-rays it was obvious there was no coin. Yep, that's right! He didn't even swallow a coin. Despite me asking multiple times if he swallowed it or spit it out and the on-call nurse asking. And insisting his throat hurt from swallowing it. Oh this child of mine.

So even though he was fine we still had to see a doctor. They took us to a room and he was right back asleep. Luckily they came in to see us quickly and we were in and out of the ER in about 1.5 hrs. Not too bad.

So all of that fun for him to actually be completely fine and sleep through the whole thing.

The irony is not lost on me that this child was playing in his room to avoid sleep only to actually fall asleep and remain asleep through this whole event.

It is a good thing he is cute and I love him. And I am really glad he is okay.
