What a week

So I don't have much time to write this because I am swamped today, but I wanted to get a quick post up.

I was home sick Monday and Tuesday with strep.  Luckily none of my boys caught it and I was able to return to work on Wednesday.  Being sick and being swamped at work is why I haven't posted all week.

I did get my car back yesterday and it seems to be okay...we will see...

Yesterday Cooper wanted to wear his cowboy hat to school.  He agreed to leave it in the car so it wouldn't get messed up by his friends.  Of course sweet little brother needed his cowboy hat too. This poor hat is Cooper's first hat and it has been 'well loved'.  Casen looked like the drunk cowboy walking around and Cooper was acting 3 as usual, but they were just too cute. Unfortunately they didn't want to stand together for a picture so this is the best I got at 6:30 in the morning in a dark garage before we loaded up and went to school.

I am the luckiest cowboy mom ever!

So tomorrow is Casen's speech assessment.  I am so glad this day is finally here, but at the same time I am nervous.  I am mostly nervous on if Casen will cooperation for the test and get accurate information. I am also nervous about what comes next.  I know it will be fine and won't hurt him, but I am worried about the time commitment.  That may make me sound like a bad mom, but I know there could regular appointments and I don't know how often or for how long.  We obviously want what is best for Casen and will do whatever it takes. However it will take patience and understanding for our employers depending on what comes next.  I am just reminding myself to take one step at a time and it will fall in place.

I appreciate prayers for tomorrow.  For our nerves, for Casen's cooperation, and for the doctors/nurses/therapists that will work with us.

We are excited and hopeful for what tomorrow brings.  Happy pre-Friday!

New Year's Eve

For New Year's Eve we went to Kyle's aunt and uncle's house. We had yummy snacks and played games.  Aunt Shari has toys from when her kids were little and the boys love playing with new and different toys.

As usual Casen flashes his cheesy smile. We all love it.

We played Cooper's kids game and after he explained it he had to stop and have a drink before we could start.

When Natalie had to steal an acorn she said who should I steal from and he slyly pointed to Aunt Shari without looking at her. It was so funny.

He cracked us up the entire game.

And he was the winner!

We had a fun time and the boys did great staying up so late.

Randoms

We made a trip to Target and used this cart for the first time.  It was like a boat!

Afterwards we went to lunch and this sweet boy wanted to wear his backpack.

I shared this picture on Facebook but I wanted to put my story here also.

While at the local Walmart we saw two firefighters shopping.  Cooper was so excited to see them and kept talking about them but when we got close to them he was too shy to say hi.  I waved to them and they both said hi to the boys.  When we got outside and saw their fire truck he insisted we go see it closer.  I put Casen in his car seat because it was crazy cold/windy and we walked over to the truck.  A firefighter got out, greeted us, offered to take Cooper inside (Cooper was too shy) and turned the lights on for us. Cooper was so shy he buried his face in my shoulder and wouldn't make eye contact, but it was still so nice of him. I know one of the firefighters in our town so I made sure to share this with him and how much it meant to Cooper and I.

Though Cooper didn't show how excited he was, as soon as we got home he started playing with Casen's new fire truck.  He played for about 30 minutes with that toy.  I know those firefighters made an impression on my little boy and it meant so much to me.

One the boys were at Mimi and Grandpa's so I joined the Tobola girls for mass. I got Mac to take a picture with me in front of the fountain.

These are gingerbread pics from my phone.

This picture is blurry but just too cute.  I love how he was just watching his brother.

The boys have had a lot of fun playing on their new toy from Mimi and Grandpa.  Even though it is super cold we still let them play for a bit when they get home from school each day.

Casen tripped at school one day and fell right into a bookshelf.  Poor thing ended up with a black eye and the last bit of yellow has just now gone away.

I haven't blogged much about the new house mostly because I haven't decorated yet and therefore haven't taken pictures to share.  But here is one thing that we have dealt with lately that is no fun.

Do you see the scorpion? It is because of all the construction going on.  That is the 4th one we have had but luckily haven't had anymore since.  Last weekend Kyle put out some scorpion repellent stuff that hopefully means it was the last.

One night the boys had fun jumping around the bed.  As you can tell by Casen rubbing his head things got a little wild.

My cousin Savannah shared a blog post about her new tradition of 'Wandering Wisemen' as an alternative to Elf on the Shelf.  She got the idea from pinterest, instagram, or somewhere so it wasn't her idea.  She shared pictures throughout on Facebook and I just loved it.  I think the elf is creepy so I definitely think we will do Wandering Wisemen next year.

Christmas Morning

The calm before the storm

Casen went straight to the good stuff.

Look at that face!

This was Cooper's reaction when he say his 'pirate ship that shoots stuff'.  Anytime someone asked him what he wanted to Christmas he would say ' a pirate and a ship that shoots stuff.' I had no clue what he was talking about or where he saw it.  Luckily Santa spotted this just days before Christmas and it happened to be, in his words, EXACTLY what he wanted. To say he was thrilled is an understatement.

I couldn't get this guy off of his new toy. However, we still haven't opened it, charged it, and let him drive. He has been content as the passenger in a different toy (post to come).

That pirate ship went on a lot of adventures.

We had a simple Christmas morning and laid around until it was time to head to my parents' for lunch and more present opening.

Gingerbread House

I bought this gingerbread house about 2 weeks before Christmas, but I just never made time for us to do it.  So one day in between Christmas and New Year's we finally did it.  I think this will be our new tradition because day after Christmas each year there are always these kits marked 50% off and life is just so hectic leading up to Christmas.

The plan was to have both boys do it in their diaper/underwear because they had just gotten out of the bath, but Cooper wanted clothes on. Just saying this so you understand why Casen is naked in the middle of winter : )

I am sharing way too many pictures but just be glad I am not sharing them all!

Someone enjoyed a little taste test.

Of course, then Casen had to try something as well.

I got in on the decorating action.

Attempt at a selfie with my nice camera.

Cooper got a little OCD at the end with his colors and candy choices. He gets that from me.  I always liked sorting and patterns.

This was a fun little project. We let it sit on the counter for 3 days or so and then threw it away.
