Recap from April 18th-24th

I am so behind on my blog so I will try to do some quick recaps.

Through a fundraiser I bought Edible Raw Cookie Dough.  It comes in little portions for you to eat, throw in ice cream, or whatever. So yummy!!

And then I found this ab workout that I was going to try to do every day! Don't ask how that is going, I am eating my ice cream with cookie dough.

My mom officially decided to retire from teaching this year. We are so excited and this was Kyle's response :)

One day that week day-care lost power due to a car accident down the street. For once I wasn't in a deadline and I was able to come to the rescue for my kids and Melisa's kids.  This sweet girl was avoiding nap. Funny thing is that she is the only one who took a short (45 min maybe) nap.

And this boy passed out less than 5 minutes after my sister picked up the girls #fratboypic

And boy did he wake up grumpy! And he really needed a haircut.

At work we have a first aid cabinet and one day I needed a band aid. I saw this note and couldn't stop laughing. Someone needs their Gas X!

In the mornings on the way to school sometimes the boys get to request a song.  This was Cooper's request and I LOVE IT!

I saw this on a website and sent it to Kyle. No we aren't prego or planning to be prego but I love this onesie.  Kyle and I sing this song often and our boys even know some of the lines if we start it.

That Friday Cooper had a great week at school so we celebrated with buying a new toy with his money (because Grandpa said he could buy something with his money)

New transformer was the winner

Saturday morning Casen woke up with major bedhead!

We attended a princess birthday party for Ella and the boys both pooped out on the way home.

That night I went to girls night with the girls on my mom's side. Not everyone could make it but we had a great time. Mary hosted us at her house and we had a delicious taco bar.

And two yummy desserts

No kids allowed unless you are under 1 so sweet Andie Rose got to come.

We enjoyed a fun game of Murder.

I loved getting to play with Andie and even got to hold her while she slept.

And she loved playing cards with her mommy.

At one point I was tied for last and I think I ended up coming in 2nd.

Sunday my sweet Cooper picked me more flowers.

And we enjoyed time outside riding bikes, scooters, and playing soccer.

Even Kyle and I enjoy the scooter.

Then we got ready to run and errand and go to lunch. Casen needed deodorant like daddy.

We had lunch at a place in Waxahachie called Tuscan Slice. We had never been before but the boys got to make their own pizzas.

And that night Aunt Jen Jen and Uncle David came over for dinner and to give the boys haircuts. Uncle David and the boys had a gun fight.

On Sunday on the way to lunch I got rear-ended while stopped at a light. The other drive actually drove away instead of stopping in the parking lot.  Luckily I was able to follow him home (not really a great idea). The driver was almost 90 and didn't get around very well. He said he didn't stop because he barely tapped me and figured there wasn't any damage. To be honest both him and his passenger/girlfriend were not very nice or apologetic. We exchanged information but he didn't have his insurance card. He told me who his insurance company was and since it was the same as mine I said okay. Plus he gave me his phone number and copy of his driver's license so I felt okay. Plus we were all hungry and the boys wanted out of the car.  Well after getting an estimate and calling him for 4 days I got no response. So I called the insurance and was able to file a claim. At first they couldn't get ahold of him either to accept fault. But luckily I got a phone call yesterday that they are accepting liability and will fix my car.  My damage is very minor but at the time of the accident my car was only 13 days old!  I always call the cops and didn't this time. I don't think I will ever make that mistake again no matter how sweet the other drive seems.

Not the best weekend, but could have been worse.

Kinder Kamp

Last night we attended Kinder Kamp for Cooper (insert tears). This was a 1 hour meeting to take the kids to the school and talk to the parents.  We have been talking about it for a couple of days to try to get him excited.  When I got home he couldn't wait to go and wanted me to show him the school on my phone.

We drove the old neon because we were expecting bad storms.

When we walked in we saw our new friends that live down the street. I thought this would help Cooper feel comfortable but he didn't need it. When we walked in he wanted to find a seat for us. I asked him if he saw anyone he knew and right away his friend Sophia from day-care came over to say hi.  Then he started to walk away from us and I said 'where are you going.' He said 'to see if I know anyone.' And he walked around the whole room despite there being about 75 people in there.

This is a picture of the ceiling tiles in the cafeteria. I thought they were so cool. He was sitting there and said 'I love this kindergarten!'

The teachers introduced themselves and waved to us.  He stood and waved to each one of them and it was the cutest thing ever. Then they asked all the kids going to kindergarten to raise their hand and follow the teachers...And he was gone!! Kyle and I looked at each other shocked!

Sweet baby brother stayed with us and kept asking about 'pooper.'  (he wasn't sad here, just being coy)

During the presentation the teachers took the kids to the library to do an activity. Cooper came back where he had made a bus and was so excited. He said 'momma, guess what!? Bentley and Weston are at my school too!!!'  (I think those were the two names??)

His first day of school is August 22nd and the week before will be his meet the teacher night.

We learned about things that would be good to work on this summer with them. Cooper has already done most of them, but I think I am going to make him a special box for kindergarten prep with safety scissors, a few practice books, new reading books, puzzles, colors, pencils. Then I am going to write each activity on a piece of paper and try to have him practice one thing each night.

These were some of the activities in case you want to do the same

  • Read a variety of books both fiction and non-fiction. Have them read the pictures and then you read the words
  • Sing and read nursery rhymes and makeup hand motions to go with it to help with coordination and creativity
  • Puzzles
  • Draw pictures
  • Cut things with scissors (paper, grass, lettuce, different types of things)
  • Play games to teach them to take turns and follow directions (board games, Simon says, outdoor games)
  • Practice them getting dressed by themselves so they can handle buttons, snaps, zippers
  • Pack a lunch and have them practice opening packages, putting the straw in their juice, etc
  • Practice writing their own name (full name including capital letters)
  • Recognize 1-20 out of order
  • Recognize shapes (look for them when you are driving)
  • Write upper case and lower case letters
  • Recognize letters out of order both uppercase and lower case

I think this is a great list. At first it seemed overwhelming but if we do one a day then we will do them all a couple of times before school starts.  And he might find some he really enjoys and want to do them outside of the designated time.

Cooper did so great last night! Though Cooper is very talkative, he also gets intimidated easily. We fully expected him to close up and refuse to go with the other kids.  We were so proud of him and made sure to tell him. Then we celebrated with ice cream!

My baby is growing up.  We are entering a new phase of life and it is bittersweet. I love seeing him learn new things and grow, but man I want to keep him little forever.

4 Months until Kindergarten. I pray he is as excited that day as he was last night!

Randoms and weekend recap for 4/16

This sweet boy came up to me the other day and said 'mommy, I have a surprise for you! I wanted to get this for you!' and showed me flowers. He has such a sweet heart!

And sweet baby brother had to follow suit. In this case I am glad he is watching his big brother.

One day Casen insisted on wearing his cowboy hat that has seen better days. I figured, why not?

Maybe this is why not! Ha! It is goofy but he can pull it off.

Casen wants to do everything Kyle does. He is his daddy's shadow and loves to be his helper. He is very observant and does a good job helping Kyle.

One night Casen was mad and threw his sippy cup of chocolate milk! It went everywhere!! This is why we haven't gotten a new couch despite the gross look of it.

I made a yummy cinnamon roll bundt cake for work and iced it at 5am. I get that from my momma

I saw this orange mustang on the road one day and took a quick picture for Cooper since he wished I got an orange racecar instead of my Explorer

Friday evening Kyle helped our neighbor with her mower. To say thank you she gave us cupcakes!

We took this picture to send to Mimi to tell her happy birthday!

And this one with the grape in his cheek!

Then we visited the guys in the river bottom working cows

The littles wanted no part of being outside.

The bigs couldn't get close enough

Casen looks so little to me in this picture.

We laughed that there were 6 adults and 7 cars parked outside because we all drove separate and my parents have an extra car. Then Grandaddy took us to lunch at Chipotle. It was crazy, but fun.

Then we headed to see Mimi to celebrate her birthday. We ate at Hoffbrau and it was so yummy.

Casen and Tyler were drawing for each other.

That night they were still hungry and they both wanted to eat apples off the core instead of me cutting them up.

And somehow I didn't take a single picture on Sunday but it was a rainy quiet day at home.
