*Updated-accidentally typed 14 16 for his weight*
Today was Cooper's 4 month doctor appointment and it went great.
Weight- 14lbs 6oz (36%)
Height- 26 inches (83%)
Head- 43.5 cm (80%)
*I think she was a little generous with the length based on how she measured but then again she might be right. He does seem long to me.
The doctor said his weight is fine. He might just be long and lean like his daddy. I said "Good! I would rather him long and lean than short and stout!"
She asked all kinds of questions and even observed him doing a couple of things. She said based on the fact that he already rolls from tummy to back and back to tummy along with how active he is (he was kicking his legs the entire time) he will probably walk before a year. Of course that is an estimate so you never know. She also suggested we do some basic baby proofing because he will be rolling all over the house before we know it.
She checked his ears again to make sure that he hasn't developed an ear infection from his cold but everything looked good.
She was impressed with his eating and said that based on his stats to keep doing what we are doing. I told her my supply issues and she said that I should feel free to supplement if I need to. That was comforting, but I don't plan to supplement unless I absolutely have to.
We will address the topic of solid foods at his next appointment at 6 months. She suggested starting cereal about a week before the 6 month mark to start teaching him to use a spoon.
She recommended we stop bathing him everyday to help with his dry skin. She has said that before and I ignored her. I feel like he needs a good bath each day after being at day-care with so many germs. Plus I like it being part of his routine. However, I may reconsider and switch baths to every other nights. Not sure yet.
She also encouraged us to massage at the corner of his eye each night to help with his tear duct issues. But reminded us that it will be worse right now since he had a cold.
I forgot my list of questions so I forgot to ask about his neck control. But she didn't notice and issue when I was holding him. And I have noticed an improvement over the last 10 days or so.
Cooper did have to get two shots and an oral something. He loved the oral thing! He sucked it down like a champ. He did not love the shots but who would! Daddy was right there with him while mommy hid in the corner! Cooper did that silent cry with his mouth wide open and so mad he couldn't breath. Of course soon after I picked him up he calmed down and was okay.
Overall the appointment was good. The doctor made me feel good about the things we are doing. She was impressed with Cooper's development. And she loved his smile.
Looks like our little boy is happy and healthy!
