Labor Day Weekend

I was looking through some pictures yesterday and realized I didn't do a weekend recap from Labor Day weekend.

Friday night we tried a local Italian place that was just okay.  The boys made us laugh because Casen wants to do everything Cooper is doing including using a fork to eat his pizza.

That night at dinner was very challenging because Casen doesn't want to stay put in his high chair and he likes to throw things.  FUN!

I saw this commercial and sent it to my cousin.  A few months ago she sent me a picture and said that she was always jealous that I had one of these when I grew up (it was the one on the top left).  So when I saw this commercial for them I took a picture and told her to get this for her niece and live vicariously through her!  I might put this on my list of my nieces too!

My sweet boys have matching shoes.  We bought Coopers shoes more than 6 months ago from Target online but they were too big so we put them in his closet until they would fit.  Somewhere between there Kyle bought his shoes and we realized they were matching.  It was too cute!

We headed to a sporting goods shop for Cooper's soccer gear

The boys tested out a tent and loved it.  Grandpa, I am sure this doesn't compare to yours! : )

We went to Academy and they were having and additional 50% off of their clearance.  Cooper's sweatshirt for $5, Casen's TCU shirt for $2.50 and my tank for $5.  I was kicking myself for not buying more of the TCU shirts for family and friends' kiddos.

I got home and my shirt above was huge.  So I went back to the academy right by our house and came home with these instead.  Purple was $2.50 and the pink one was $5.

That day was our Horned Frogs first game of the season so we had to be in our TCU gear.

Here you can compare my two boys (Casen is 1 month older at this point).  They don't looks much alike.

We went to Aunt Shari's house for a cookout and games.

Casen

Cooper

Sunday we headed to Ennis so the boys could prep for deer season. The baby boys went straight to throwing rocks.

Then Mac Mac and Tinsley showed up too! I love this sweet picture with their big smiles.

The boys were in their 'Jeff Johnson uniform' (my dad's name)  This is what my dad wears to work each day and on the weekends when he is working.

Here is Trent in his.

And Kyle in his.  We couldn't get them to stand together for a picture.

I love this picture of Casen playing and shared it on instagram.

Aunt Jen Jen and Uncle David came over for dinner on Monday and then we finally tried Bahama Bucks for the first time.  I didn't love my flavor but I loved the texture of the snow cone so we will definitely go back.

We had a fun weekend full with family.

Update on getting healthy

1. I got some new gear.  Below are my old shoes.  I am so embarrassed of them, but still needed to share.  They aren't even running shoes!  They don't even have laces!!

I got them in early 2009 and I remember that because it was around the time we got Riley and my sweet puppy ate at the back of my new shoes after only having them a few weeks....but I still wore them.  I still wore them for 5 years!!  If you know me then you know I don't wear tennis shoes often so I never cared.  It wasn't worth it to me to spend more money on new shoes.

But after some convincing and my commitment to running I decided to splurge on a pair of good shoes.  Kyle is probably laughing right now at 'splurge' because I waited until they were on sale at Kohls, I used a coupon, and a $10 giftcard.  But my $85 shoes ended up only costing me $43.  Not bad. And aren't they pretty (and bright!)?

Then I saw this shirt on a discount site but they didn't have my size. So I sent it to my friend Jen and she made me one.

I am wearing it here but I couldn't catch the words in my picture.  I need to take a pic in the mirror.

I was at Walmart one day and they had some workout clothes on clearance.  I got this orange shirt for $3 and I love it.

I got this green shirt also for $5 and a pink one just like it for $3.  (I have decided I am no Kim Kardashian and need to work on my selfie taking skills)

Here are my adorable shoes again. In the interest of full disclosure I must say that after my first two runs wearing these shoes I had foot pain.  It was in my ankle and top of my foot and I hated it.  I was quick to point out to Kyle that I finally spend money on good shoes and they hurt.  My friend Christal is reading this thinking 'I told you to go to Luke's for advice' but I didn't want to take the time or spend that kind of money.  The good news is that I am now running fine in them.  I just needed to break them in I guess.

Two weeks ago I woke up one morning with this giant bruise.  I have no clue where it came from but it hurt and felt bad.  It is still there and doesn't look much better.  I bruise like a peach but don't remember hitting it.  Honestly things are so crazy these days that I likely hit it on something but was too busy to stop and process what happened.  I mention it here because I kinda wondered if I could have popped a blood vessel while running, but nothing ever hurt during my run and I haven't taken the time to see what Dr. Google thinks.

2. My time-

Two weeks okay I did my first two mile run and it felt great!

I have continued to increase my pace.

However last week and this week I have gotten off track.  I have been paying more attention to my pace (see the improvement below) instead of distance.  I need to get back on track and remember my goals.  My goal isn't to be the fastest.  My goal is to run a 5K.

3. Smoothies
I have been making smoothies by prepping the bags below.  I use 1 cup of fruit and 10 spinach leaves (I can't even taste them) and freeze them.  Then as I want one I just put the contents of the bag and a cup of milk in the blender.  It makes a pretty good size smoothie so sometimes I split it into two and freeze the other half.  I think next time I will do half a cup of fruit and 5 spinach leaves so that it is a smaller portion.

My favorite fruit combo is banana, strawberries, and blueberries.  This time I didn't have blueberries and used half an apple and 1 nectarine in my combo.  It was okay but those fruits didn't blend as well.

4. My weight- This morning I weighed myself and I have lost 3.5 pounds.  My first goal was 3 pounds so I am pretty excited!  In dreamland I would like to lose 2.5 more because that would be my wedding day weight, but not sure if I really care if I hit that.  I am perfectly happy with this weight, now I just want to tone up.

I recently won 1 year free gym membership to a small gym near work.  I need to go take a tour and sign up.  I think it will be great to have this alternative now that it is getting darker earlier and will be getting cold soon.

5. Diet- my new goal is to try one new veggie recipe a week.  I would love for any good recipes you have so please share.  I have picky eaters in my house.

So here is my update.  I know it is long and wordy but I finally had a chance to document it all.  I don't have time to break it into multiple posts.

Cooper's 3 Year Questionnaire

I decided to do a fun little questionnaire with Cooper.  I have thought about doing this for several years, but didn't have a list of questions.  With the new school year I saw that a couple of bloggers did these for their kiddos.  I took one list of questions and modified it some.

I was nervous about how this would go with Cooper.  I knew that the answers would depend on his mood.  We were on our way to Ennis and I decided to try asking the questions.  He LOVED it! Seriously he kept saying 'what's next' and 'keep talking momma'.  It was adorable and Kyle and I couldn't stop laughing.

So here we go...

How old are you?  3

What is your favorite number? 10 then he had to count to 10 and said yep that's my favorite

What is your favorite color? Blue

What is your favorite drink? Sprite. He had Sprite once at my parents and now always wants it. He went through a phase with orange juice this past year, then apple juice, and is now back on chocolate milk.

What is your favorite food? EGGS! I have no clue where that came from.  I don't ever feed him eggs. Then he said popsicles and ice cream.  His other favorite foods are strawberries, apples, chip and dip, and any pasta or pizza.

What is your favorite show?  Paw Patrol, Octonauts, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Bubble Guppies

What is your favorite holiday? Christmas

What is your favorite thing to do with mommy? play games, take pictures, cuddle

What is your favorite thing to do with daddy? play games

What is your favorite thing to do with Casen? Take baths and tickle

What is your favorite book? My truck is stuck.  He is going through a phase right now where he isn't that into books but his favorites over the past year have been Little Blue Truck, Little Blue Truck Leads The Way, Curious George, Sometimes I like to curl up in a ball

Who is your best friend? Aiden, Willoughby, and Calin

Who are your teachers? Miss Astrid and Miss Amanda.  Funny thing is that I thought he said Miss Savannah and I thought 'oh she must be new'

What do you want to be when you grow up? Daddy.  This melted my heart that it was the first thing he thought of.  I expected a career but a daddy is so much better.  He looks up to his Daddy so much and I know he says things like 'when I get big like Daddy'.

What is your favorite movie? Planes: Fire and Rescue (the first and only movie he has seen in theater so far)

What is your favorite toy? Sneaky snacky squirrel game.  He also loves any trucks, trains, or airplanes.

What is your favorite thing to wear?  BOOTS! It was a very quick and confident answer

Who are you going to marry when you grow up?  a witch. This made us puzzled and laugh.  I don't think he had any clue what the question meant.

What is your favorite sport? Baseball

What do you like to do at Babi and Grandaddy's house? Play with Mac Mac and see the piggies and cows

What do you like to do at Mimi and Grandpa's house? play trains and cars and ride the four wheeler

Throughout the questioning Cooper would say 'oh and...put that on the list' or 'what is next on the list'

At one point he said 'and don't forget Ranger and Riley'.  I am not sure what question they belonged to, but I made sure to write it down.

This was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again next year and with Casen at some point.  Please remind me to do it every year with them because I am likely to forget.

Weekend Recap

On Friday Kyle and I enjoyed a date night.  We ate Mexican, walked around Target, and then watched tv.  Nothing exciting but we loved it.  We have so much fun together and are so relaxed just the two of us.  We ate peanut butter cupcakes from the bake sale at work therefore I didn't try the ice cream or the popcorn that I mentioned.  But don't worry, I will.

Isn't my husband the hottest!?! He must really love me too because he took another selfie with me.  It's the little things that mean the most.

Saturday morning we got up early, picked up the boys, and hit the road.  Our first stop was the lot to see the foundation that was poured on Friday.

Then Kyle dropped the boys and I off at Melisa's for the day.  Kyle went to Ennis work with Trent and my dad to prep for deer season.

I shared this picture on Facebook of Casen.  It makes me think of the episode of Full House when DJ was babysitting and the kid got his head stuck.  They slathered his head with butter to try to get him out.  I loved how many people knew exactly what I was talking about when I said 'what tv show does this make you think of.'

After lunch Casen had and outfit change and we realized that we had little twins!

They are so cute!!

I took this picture of the Melisa's chairs that my granny made new seats/covers for.
She did a great job.

A fun selfie.

I finally watched Frozen and Cooper and I both liked it.

Sweet silly girl

She got into the diaper cream and tried to cover herself.

After Casen woke up from nap we thought about going for a walk but it was too hot.  So then we decided to play in the sprinkler.

Casen of course loved it.

After sprinkler time we ended up just getting in the pool.  We had a lot of outfit changes that day.

Then we had the kids sign some cards for Grandparents' Day and Mac did some coloring.

I loved seeing her color with the cool crayons I brought her back from Argentina.

We fed the kids an early dinner and then we enjoyed cookies on the patio. The weather had cooled down for a storm and it felt wonderful.

I didn't take any pictures later but Babi, Grandaddy, Kyle and Trent showed up and we ate a yummy dinner all together.  It was a great day and we were all worn out.

Sunday we just did the usual stuff around the house and Ranger got a long (really long) overdue haircut.  This was our first time to go to this location and I was nervous based on the groomer's attitude, but she did great and he looks great.  Riley goes tonight for a bath and good brushing.

Sunday after naps we visited Mimi and Grandpa again for Grandparents Day and headed back home for dinner.

I ended the day with a quick run.  I am starting to have a tough time with it getting dark so early.  I need to rethink my evening routine.  I know I need to go earlier, but I don't want to cut into my time with the boys before bed.  Still trying to figure it out.

I hope you all had a great weekend.
