Weekend Recap!

We had a wonderful weekend.  It was low key and spent mostly at home!

Friday night Cooper was tired because he didn't nap well at day-care.  We grabbed fast food and just caught up on the DVR.  Cooper went to bed early and Kyle and I followed soon after.  The clock said 7:50 (yes you read that right) when we turned out our light.

Cooper slept until 4:30 and started playing in his bed.  He has recently started rolling over in his crib and we got to see it on the video monitor this time!  I then nursed him in bed and we all slept in some more.  I got up at 7 and had to make these two get up at 8:15 so Cooper could get ready to leave with me.

Aren't they adorable?  The picture is fuzzy because it was dark, but thanks to the flash on my phone I could capture the moment without turning the light on!

Cooper and I met my college roommate Jodi for breakfast.  The food was delicious and it was great to catch up with Jodi.  I love how it can been weeks/months between visits but we have no problem talking like it was yesterday.  This was Jodi's first time to see Cooper in person since the hospital.  He turned on the charm and wanted to hold her hand (or finger) most of the time.

After lunch Cooper and I kept Jodi company while she got a pedicure since she is about to head to the beach!  Then Cooper and I swung by the house to pick up Kyle and do a little shopping.  We decided to put Cooper in the stroller without the carrier.

He did great, but looks way too grown up in the picture!

This is Coop hanging out before breakfast.

After shopping we went to hangout at Mimi and Grandpa's house.  They hadn't seen him in two weeks!  We played at their house and went to dinner at one of my favs, Hoffbrau!

Cooper enjoyed showing him his new bubble blowing trick.  He does it all of the time now! He also liked watching football with Grandpa!  TCU won! But unfortunately for Uncle Tyler and Aunt Lala, A&M lost.

Sunday Kyle worked overtime so Cooper and I were on our own.  We did lots of laundry, made homemade spaghetti sauce, went grocery shopping, visited Aunt Lusa and Mac, cleaned up some clutter and organizing.

Jen and David came over in the evening.  Jen colored my hair darker.  I don't have any pictures yet but I love it!  And then they stayed for spaghetti.

The meat sauce was a recipe from my MIL.  The sauce was sweeter than I am used to but we loved it!  Definitely making it again!

(blowing bubbles!)

Along with a wonderful weekend we got some good news.

My cousin sold my her barely used pump along with a lot of supplies that were never used.  So glad I didn't buy more bottles this weekend before seeing what she gave me.  Plus the old pump is behaving so now I have two pumps and can leave one at work instead of lugging it back and forth every day!!

Also Kyle got good news about deer hunting (after having a bad weekend opening weekend) and is looking forward to hunting more the rest of the season.
(loves that froggy!)

I hope you all had a great weekend too!

Friday Favorites!!

These are a few of my favorite things-

I love this key chain on Etsy.  It opens and you put birthstones in it!  I love it!! I am very simple with my jewelry so I love this as a key chain.  I love the idea of having one of these with Cooper and Baby C's birthstones!  I eventually want a mother's necklace or ring but I have to be done with kids before I do that!

I love this blog post from Dianthe this week.  It cracks me up because it hits so close to home!

I love these Huggies diapers!!  Just adorable!!  They only start in size 3 from what I can tell.  Cooper is still in a size 2 but I am still considering buying some.  I might split a package with Melisa and they can wear them at Christmas.  I will wait and see if he will be in a 3 by then.

Jennifer is hosting a giveaway for tickets to the Northwest Arkansas Boutique Show.  I have heard great things about this show and if it wasn't a 6 hour drive I would enter and go.  I might have to plan to go one year for fun!

This thing cracks me up but I think it is hilarious! And for one mommy blogger it works great.  I don't have this issue with Cooper, but I might need it in the future!

I LOVE Cooper's day-care!  I feel so lucky to have found a place that I really do love.  They are thrilled to see Cooper every day.  They are warm and friendly.  I can tell that they truly care about our little boy.

Yesterday he went on his first "bus ride" at day-care.  It isn't what you think.  They have a little buggy that holds 4 kids and they call it the bus.  Cooper rode in it for the first time yesterday and I just happened to check the webcam at the time and got to see it.  It was ADORABLE and they said he loved it.

I love these cute pumpkins that Katie did with her little girl!  Too Cute!

I love that Cooper is getting more hair.  I meant to take a picture of it.  It is light brown and right on top towards the back.  Right now it sticks up and is just adorable!!

I love this recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Fudge!  I haven't tried it but it looks delicious!  Anyone want to volunteer to make this so I can try it?

And finally...

I love seeing Cooper's artwork.

And I think this is the cutest turkey ever!!!!

It looks big on that piece of paper but that is because it is a small little square of paper.  Below is a pic of his along with other school friends.  His is on the far right.

Thursday Thoughts

  • I think that paying $1.80 for guacamole at Chipotle is outrageous!  But I love Chipotle and I love guacamole therefore I am crazy and pay it!!
  • I think I am ready to dye my hair darker.  Last time I got rid of the blonde and did light brown with a hint of red.  I wanted to go darker but chickened out.  This past weekend I saw my cousin Evette who dyed hers darker and I loved it.  It helps that we look alike so I get a little peek into what mine would look like.  Now I need to contact Jen to see when we can do it!  I hope mine looks as good as Evette's!
  • I think it is weird that spellcheck said that "blonde" is wrong.  Apparently I am supposed to say "blond"  What is the difference?
  • I think this little boy is growing up way too fast!!  We put him in his exersaucer at home for the first time and he seemed to really like it!  EVERYTHING is going in his mouth these days!!

  • I think that the Duggars having 20 kids is amazing.  Yes it is scary to think of having 20 kids and how her body can handle that.  But I really think that it is admirable that they are willing to have as many kids as God wants to bless them with.  I can't imagine having 20 kids! I wish I had the strength and faith to trust God and let him bless us as he chooses instead of us determining the number of kids. (I do realize that having a paid reality show helps but I really think they would do it even if they didn't have a tv show).  I really want to just trust God, but at the same time I am scared to death that I would get pregnant right away.  And though I know that I want more kids, I also want to enjoy Cooper right now as he experiences all of his 'firsts'.
  • I think my tea smells like licorice.  I am drinking a special tea to help with milk supply and it doesn't taste very good.  Then my coworker pointed out that it smells like black licorice and that is all I can think about when drinking it.  I hate licorice!!
  • I think this bib I bought on clearance last year is adorable!!  I love holiday clothes!!  He has two Thanksgiving bibs but I am saving the cuter one for tomorrow or this weekend!

  • I think my breast pump is trying to die on me! It has been acting up off and on for a couple of weeks. I bought it used so I don't have a warranty or anything. I kinda wish I hadn't been so cheap and would have bought one new. Now I am considering buying another used one for $100 off of Craig's list. I asked a lot of questions about it and I think it is a good deal but I don't want to get a lemon. Not sure....
  • I think this little turkey is absolutely adorable!!  I caught this cute face at day-care this morning.  I dressed him up in Thanksgiving clothes today.  I am trying to get good use out of Cooper's holiday clothes. He has several Thanksgiving outfits so he will probably wear 2-3 Thanksgiving outfits a week. My goal is for him to wear each at least 3 times. I will share them all with you because I think they are adorable!!

Happy Thursday!!

4 month dr appt

*Updated-accidentally typed 14 16 for his weight*

Today was Cooper's 4 month doctor appointment and it went great.

Weight- 14lbs 6oz (36%)
Height- 26 inches (83%)
Head- 43.5 cm (80%)

*I think she was a little generous with the length based on how she measured but then again she might be right.  He does seem long to me.

The doctor said his weight is fine.  He might just be long and lean like his daddy.  I said "Good!  I would rather him long and lean than short and stout!"

She asked all kinds of questions and even observed him doing a couple of things.  She said based on the fact that he already rolls from tummy to back and back to tummy along with how active he is (he was kicking his legs the entire time) he will probably walk before a year.  Of course that is an estimate so you never know.  She also suggested we do some basic baby proofing because he will be rolling all over the house before we know it.

She checked his ears again to make sure that he hasn't developed an ear infection from his cold but everything looked good.

She was impressed with his eating and said that based on his stats to keep doing what we are doing.  I told her my supply issues and she said that I should feel free to supplement if I need to.  That was comforting, but I don't plan to supplement unless I absolutely have to.

We will address the topic of solid foods at his next appointment at 6 months.  She suggested starting cereal about a week before the 6 month mark to start teaching him to use a spoon.

She recommended we stop bathing him everyday to help with his dry skin.  She has said that before and I ignored her.  I feel like he needs a good bath each day after being at day-care with so many germs.  Plus I like it being part of his routine.  However, I may reconsider and switch baths to every other nights.  Not sure yet.

She also encouraged us to massage at the corner of his eye each night to help with his tear duct issues.  But reminded us that it will be worse right now since he had a cold.

I forgot my list of questions so I forgot to ask about his neck control.  But she didn't notice and issue when I was holding him.  And I have noticed an improvement over the last 10 days or so.

Cooper did have to get two shots and an oral something.  He loved the oral thing! He sucked it down like a champ.  He did not love the shots but who would!  Daddy was right there with him while mommy hid in the corner!  Cooper did that silent cry with his mouth wide open and so mad he couldn't breath.  Of course soon after I picked him up he calmed down and was okay.

Overall the appointment was good.  The doctor made me feel good about the things we are doing.  She was impressed with Cooper's development.  And she loved his smile.

Looks like our little boy is happy and healthy!

Weekend Recap

This weekend we spent our time in Ennis with my family.

Kyle and I both took a half day to run errands, clean up around the house, and pack. It took us a while to get everything together for us, Cooper and the dogs. We made it to Ennis around 6 and just hung out at my parents house and had pizza. Melisa and MacKenzie also came in Friday evening.

Saturday morning we got up around 4:30 and started our day, partly because we wanted to and partly because the babies said so. Neither of the babies slept very well. And we don't usually sleep well because we hear every little noise they make since they are right next to us in the pack n play.

A store (Belk) was having a charity day with amazing sales plus my mom had coupons. So my mom, Melisa, and I packed up the babies and drove about 30 minutes (which isn't far for us since we were used to driving an hour to get to the mall!) to the store. This was my first time to go to Belk and I am not sure how popular they are, but it reminded me a lot of Kohl's.

Unfortunately just like Kohl's they don't have very many carts and by the time we got there at 6:20am (they opened at 6:00) they were all gone so we had to carry these two all around the store!

Of course everyone assumes they are twins so when people say how cute we usually say "They are cousins, not twins" but sometimes we just don't worry about correcting people.

An hour and 45 minutes later we had 3 large bags of great deals! Below is a picture of all 3 of our receipts! Of course we are math nerds and decided to see who got the best deal! Thanks to the sales and the coupon we each saved over 60% on our purchases! I got 3 cute shirts for myself, plus some sleepers, an adorable jacket, and two outfits for Cooper. Some of it will be his Christmas presents so I can't show you all, but I will shows you some of my cute buys later this week!

After Belk we made a quick trip to Target to get some gifts. I stayed in the car with the babies and fed Cooper. Melisa and Babi were taking forever and Cooper and I got bored so we took some pictures. I don't like this pic of me but thought it was cute of Cooper. Mac was sleeping in case you were wondering.

Then we headed to the Holiday Bazaar in Ennis where my grandmother had a booth setup.  Mac and Coop had a great time playing on the floor and visiting with all of the shoppers!

They even took their first picture with Santa.  Cooper hated it and screamed.  They just caught this pic in between screams.  Mac loved it and smiled the entire time.  She even tried to eat Santa's beard!

Saturday night we went to church and then went back to my parents for pot roast!  We all went to bed pretty early after our long day!

Sunday morning we hung out around the house and then we to help host my cousin Mary's baby shower.  The shower was cute, fun, and the food was delicious.  I didn't take any pictures, but will try to get some from someone else to share.

Today is Day 9 of my challenge!  It was very hard this past weekend to resist cupcakes at the shower. I was in charge of the cupcakes which was determined before I decided to do this challenge.  It was also hard to resist sodas because everyone around me was drinking them all weekend.  But I survived and am down a pound and a half!

Cooper is 4 months old!

Cooper I am amazed each month how you grow and change and this month is no different!

I weighed you last week and you weighed right around 14lbs 13 oz.  Your 4 month appointment is in 2 days so we will know for sure your height, weight, and head size.

You now wear size 2 diapers.  You still wear some clothes in 0-3 months, but you also wear 3-6 months clothes.  It all depends on the brand.

Oh my goodness you look so big in this picture! Compare to the 3 month post

You are still exclusively breastfed.  We continue the schedule of nursing at 5am, 5pm, and again at bedtime.  You also receive 4 bottles between 4 and 5 ounces while at day-care.  You continue to be a great eater.  I still love nursing you and plan to continue however I have struggled with my milk supply lately so hopefully it is something we can work through.

In the past 2-3 weeks you have started spitting up a lot more after meals.  We don't know if it has to do with you being sick or possibly overeating.  We continue to try to tweak things to help with your spitting up.

You kept rolling to the side when we were taking pictures.  I think you just wanted to cuddle with the bear because you couldn't help, but try to put his foot in your mouth.

You are still a great sleeper however recently you have been trying to wake up earlier but I think that is because you are sick.  We will get you back on track this week I think.

You still come to our bed for your 5am feeding and then go back to sleep.  We usually don't get to cuddle because we have to get up for work, but we try to cuddle on the weekends with you.

Bath time is one of my favorites times of the day.  You love getting a bath.  I sing two different songs to you and you just stare and smile at me while I bath you.  I sing "Miss Suzie Had A Turtle" and a made up song (I am going to share with you just because I want to have it for memory sake, don't laugh!)

Remix to the beat of "How much is that doggy in the window?"

How much is that baby in the mirror
The one with the chubby little cheeks
How much is that baby in the mirror
Oh, how I hope he's for free

You have peed in the tub 2 or 3 times now but luckily it hasn't hit me or anyone else!  We also got rid of your cradle cap thanks to the doctor's suggestion of Celsum Blue shampoo.

You still suffer from a clogged tear duct that causes you to have a lot of eye boogers or your right eye crusted shut.  Some of it could also be from the cold.  You also have dry skin or eczema but with lotion it doesn't seem to be too bad.

You still love to talk to us and Daddy worries you will be a Chatty Cathy like your mommy, but I love to hear your voice so that is just fine with me!

You also recently started laughing out loud.  We really heard it clearly for the first time a week ago.  Then this past weekend Babi was doing the 'Hokey Pokey' with you and you thought it was the funniest thing ever.  You couldn't stop laughing and either could we!

I think you are starting to get attached to me.  I have noticed there are times when someone else is holding you and as I walk by you seem to get fussy.  There has even been a time or two when you seem to lean towards me when someone else has you.  I love you that want your momma because it makes me feel special.  But we still want you to be friendly and enjoy being with other people.  You have never actually cried when someone held you so I don't think we are to that point yet.

You really seem to have noticed Ranger and Riley lately.  You like to watch them run around and play.

During your second week at day-care you got your first cold.  I hated that you got a cold so quickly but it is cold season and it was bound to happen.  You still have a cold.  Though you have never run a fever you have been very congested and have a cough.  At one point your voice also got raspy and it was the sweetest thing.  Luckily despite being sick you have been in a great mood.

On October 15th you were babysat by my cousin Mary.  I thought she was the first person to baby-sit you other than immediate family, but I just remembered that my cousin Erica watched you at home back before I went back to work.  She was however, the first person to get to drive you somewhere else.  You were great for Mary and she enjoyed getting to watch you.
On October 28th you tried the exersaucer out for the first time at day-care.  They said you really liked it.  We are going to get the one at home out for you this week.

Last week you played in your crib for about 30 minutes when you woke up.  That was the first time you entertained yourself before crying to wake us up.  You still woke us up with your talking, but I loved hearing it.  I would much rather hear you talk and coo than cry!

I was trying to get your attention with a toy and I accidentally caught it in the picture!

You have learned to do so many new things this month.  You just started blowing bubbles, putting weight on your legs and standing with our help, bring anything and everything to your mouth, pull your own paci out and try to put it back in, and roll from tummy to back or back to tummy pretty often.

Your legs are constantly moving and kicking.  You don't like tummy time much so you haven't started pushing to crawl yet but it probably won't be long.  Daddy and I have a feeling once you start crawling you will be very fast since your legs never stop moving.

Once again your are growing faster than we can believe.  It is amazing how fast time goes by.  I can't believe you are already 4 months old and starting to get mobile!

Daddy and I love you so much and can't wait to see what this next month holds for you!

TGIF!

I had planned to do Cooper's 4 month post today but I didn't get around to taking his pictures so I will save that for next week.  I want to do it when he is in a happy mood and get that adorable smile!

Instead I am sharing some cute pictures of Cooper in his seasonal outfits!

This is the sleeper he wore last night to bed.  I got it on sale last year after Thanksgiving.  I love the little turkeys all over it!

Every time I center the picture below it move it out of order so I guess it is going to stay justified to the left!

This morning I dressed Cooper in camo (per his daddy's request!) because tomorrow is opening day of deer season

My mom had this cute onesie made just for Cooper.  The deer is camo material trimmed in orange!

He is also wearing camo socks that he got from Aunt Lala or Aust Lusa (they both gave him the same ones which is perfect for another camo outfit this weekend!)

Momma loves that double chin!!

This last picture is a bib that Cooper got from his Aunt Carla that his cousin Quinn never got to use.  I have learned to put bibs on him in the car so that he doesn't spit up on his outfit before we get where we are going!

I am taking a half day to clean up the house and pack for our weekend in Ennis.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
